Jana Kramer is just a few dates into joining Blake Shelton on the road as part of his Ten Times Crazier Tour (which also features Easton Corbin). While the “Why Ya Wanna” singer admits the tour is still so new (the first show only took place July 19 in Virginia Beach), she’s already learned so much from working alongside the chart-topping artist and Voice coach.
While in town after the tour’s New York stop this past Sunday (July 21), Kramer sat down with Radio.com and filled us in on what it’s like to watch Shelton, both on stage and behind the scenes.
“He’s an amazing entertainer,” Kramer said. “He really interacts with the crowd, and he has them his hands. He’s just so good with talking to them and the way that he expresses his songs and shows his emotions.”
One song in particular had Kramer tearing up. ”He was singing ‘Over You,’ and I was crying,” she said. Kramer is referring to the chart-topping, ACM award-winning song he wrote with his wife, Miranda Lambert.

Jana Kramer doesn’t mince words. Her current single “I Hope it Rains” is a love letter of sorts to all of her ex-boyfriends out there. “I’m hoping that my ex-boyfriends are having really bad days and it’s raining on them.”
A fun, sassy song, Jana was careful that her revenge anthem didn’t get too out of hand. “I wanted to go with something fun and sassy — not too mean. That’s why I’m always sass with class.”
As fun as it to think about revenge against your ex, Jana has more fun performing the song on stage. It gives her a chance to, as she puts it, “show personality, have fun with the band and just kind of rock it up a bit.”
It seems that Mother Nature agrees. “The last six shows, it’s started to rain during ‘I Hope it Rains.’”
That fun and spunky personality comes through in the new video for “I Hope it Rains.” Even though Jana started her career as an actress, she was happy to not have to act in this video.
“I just wanted to have fun — have the band run around and be stupid. I don’t have to be the one acting. I get to be the one having fun.”
Jana just finished touring with Darius Rucker and is about to go out on tour with label-mate Blake Shelton on his “Ten Times Crazier” tour. “Darius is fantastic — his whole crew. I was really sad the last day.”
However, Jana wasn’t sad enough to forgo the final pranks that her crew and Darius’ crew pulled on each other.
“During the tour, I had a bird fall on me from the sky and it died — there was blood all over everywhere.” And while that seems like a traumatic experience, Darius’ crew decided they couldn’t let it go. “The last day on the tour, they had a fake bird [fall] down [on me] and they covered the stage with feathers.”
So how did Jana retaliate? “During ‘Hold My Hand’ we dressed up like Hamburger Helper hands and danced around the stage.”

Jana Kramer has released her new single, “I Hope It Rains,” to country radio. She recently filmed the video outside of Nashville with plans for it to be released next month. The single can be found on her self-titled debut album.
A busy summer is in the works for Jana. She’s currently on tour with Darius Rucker through June before joining Blake Shelton’s Ten Times Crazier Tour this July, including stops in Chicago, New York’s Jones Beach and Nashville.
Jana released her self-titled debut album in 2012, drawing critical praise. She was named ACM’s 2013 New Female Vocalist of the Year and was the most played debut artist at country radio in 2012. She has sold more than 1.3 million tracks from her debut project.
She’s the opening act on Blake Shelton’s Ten Times Crazier tour, which kicks off July 5, but former One Tree Hill star turned country singer Jana Kramer has one concern about spending so much time with the hard-partying Voice coach: “My liver is going to suffer!”
The 29-year-old, who got engaged to country star Brantley Gilbert in January, is looking forward to downing whiskey shots with Blake before a show, but she also wants to get some relationship advice from the 36-year-old, who’s been married to Miranda Lambert for two years. “Blake and Miranda don’t go more than two weeks without seeing each other,” she told In Touch at the Walmart Steak-Over Challenge grilling competition in LA on May 22, “so that’s a thing Brantley and I are taking as a tip.”
While Jana describes Blake as “the funniest guy ever,” she’s hoping he’ll give her some serious guidance on keeping her relationship with Brantley strong while they’re miles apart on tour. “I’m really excited to sit down with Blake and Miranda together and be like, ‘All right, how do you do it? When you get upset, how do you deal with it?” she admits. “It’s hard with the business and us being gone, and of course girls vying for him and vice versa, so keeping that trust is a really important thing.”
Even though Jana will be on tour with Blake through March next year, she’s also busily planning her wedding, which she admits will be “sooner than later.” Lucky for her Brantley is just as interested in wedding details as she is. “He’s so hands on, it’s been so sweet,” she smiles. “He emails more with the wedding planner than I do!”
Jana says the celebration will be very non-traditional: “A sweet, Southern, country, chill, fun, backyard party is something that’s our style,” she confides. And while the guest list will be star-studded – she’s hoping her One Tree Hill pal Sophia Bush can make it – Jana has one big wish for her special day. “I would die if Keith Urban or Tim McGraw sang at the wedding,” she says.
